Legal & Policies
SIP is built on transparency. These policies apply to all users of SIP software and the sip-ai.info website. For questions, contact pachilles@sip-ai.info.
Privacy Policy
The short version: SIP collects and stores everything you share with it — conversations, personal information, preferences, beliefs, and memories. All of this data lives exclusively on your machine. None of it is transmitted anywhere, ever. SIP has no servers, no cloud storage, and no external connections except those you explicitly initiate.
What data does SIP collect?
SIP is designed to be a persistent personal AI — it learns about you over time. It stores your conversations, the names and relationships of people you mention, your preferences and corrections, beliefs it has verified through your interactions, and episodic memories of significant exchanges. This is the core of what makes SIP useful. All of this data is stored in local files on your machine only: JSON files, SQLite databases, and plain text. You can inspect, edit, or delete any of it at any time.
Does the sip-ai.info website collect data?
The website uses no tracking cookies, no analytics platforms, and no advertising networks. Standard web server access logs (IP address, page requested, timestamp) may be retained by our hosting provider for security purposes. We do not access, sell, or process these logs.
Premium plugins and optional cloud features
The optional Hybrid Cloud Router plugin routes queries to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq, OpenRouter) using your own API keys. When you use this plugin, your queries are sent to those providers under their privacy policies. SIP never sees your API keys except locally on your machine. The information_classifier built into SIP will warn you if a query contains personal information before routing it to a cloud provider.
Email Suite plugin
If you use the Email Suite premium plugin, your email credentials are stored locally on your machine and used only to connect directly to your email provider's IMAP/SMTP servers. Credentials are never transmitted to SIP's servers (which don't exist) or any third party.

Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using SIP software, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the software.
2. License
SIP Core is provided free of charge for personal use. Premium plugins are licensed per-instance following a 7-day trial period. You may not redistribute, resell, or sublicense SIP software or premium plugins without written permission.
3. Alpha Software
SIP Alpha is pre-release software provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. It may contain bugs, behave unexpectedly, or change significantly between releases. Use at your own risk. Back up important data independently of SIP.
4. Permitted Use
SIP is intended for personal, lawful use only. You may not use SIP to generate illegal content, harass individuals, or circumvent other software's terms of service. You are responsible for all content generated through your SIP instance.
5. AI Disclaimer
SIP uses local AI language models to generate responses. These responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Do not rely on SIP for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. SIP's Health plugin provides general information only — it is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of SIP shall not be liable for any damages arising from use of the software, including but not limited to data loss, system damage, or decisions made based on SIP's responses.
7. Changes
These terms may be updated as SIP evolves toward its v1 release. Continued use of the software constitutes acceptance of updated terms.

Open Source License
The 12-Month Open Source Promise
SIP Core will be released as open source software under the MIT License one year after the official v1 release date. This is a commitment, not a roadmap item.
Current Status (Alpha)
SIP Alpha source code is viewable on GitHub for review and auditing purposes. It is not yet licensed for redistribution or commercial use. The GitHub repository will become fully public under MIT License at the v1 + 1 year mark.
Premium Plugins
Premium plugins are proprietary and will not be open-sourced. They are separately licensed commercial products. Free plugins (shipping with SIP Core) will be open-sourced on the same timeline as SIP Core.
Third-Party Components
SIP uses open-source components including llama.cpp (MIT), Python standard libraries, and various pip packages. Each retains its own license. A full dependency list is included in the SIP download package.
